Jeremiah

In-Person Beginning October 3

Jeremiah

The book of Jeremiah is filled with wisdom for believers. It encourages us to know God’s word and live a life filled with compassion for those in need, and to worship a holy God. It also includes warnings when we do not heed His word and refuse to repent of sins in our lives

This weekly teaching will be offered in-person on Thursday evenings in San Antonio, Texas. The recording will be released on the VBVMI website on the following Wednesday.

The book of Jeremiah contains a relevant message for the modern-day church. The LORD speaks through Jeremiah to His people with words of warning about the discipline He must bring upon them. The LORD's people turned away from following His word and chose to be like those around them rather than distinctly different, as He instructed. The leaders failed to properly guide the people and led them to false worship instead of pure worship of the LORD. The people also failed to protect the vulnerable, leading to a collapse of society, which was not the LORD's intention for His people.

The LORD urges His people through Jeremiah to repent and return to Him as their God. Jeremiah is tasked with delivering the difficult message that judgment is coming from the LORD. This judgment will come from nations empowered by the LORD for this purpose. Jerusalem and the temple will be destroyed, and many people will die while others will be taken into exile. However, the LORD promises that this discipline is not for the destruction of His people but to ultimately bring them back to Him.
