Was the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital a sign of the end times?
Although controversial, President Donald Trump recently announced America would recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel. Is there a prophecy of this in the Bible? Is it one of the signs that Jesus’ second coming is drawing near?
The Bible foretells the regathering of Israel into their promised land:
Ezek. 11:17 “Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”’
The regathering of Israel has already begun, and the present regathering is a fulfillment of prophecy in preparation for the end of the age. But the recent political pronouncement that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital is not a significant new element, since as the President said, it is merely the recognition of a 70-year old fact.
