Houston Heflin, Ed.D., is a professor in the Bible Department at Abilene Christian University (ACU) in Abilene, Texas where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on spiritual formation, church ministry, and the art of teaching. He also teaches an introduction to college course to first-year students in the Honors college.

Before his 14 years of teaching at ACU he spent 12 years in church ministry. These experiences have led him to enjoy equipping teachers, teaching churches, and mentoring ministers. He travels to churches around the US doing consulting work and hosting teacher equipping seminars for their volunteer Bible class teachers. He also enjoys writing and has completed several books. These include “Pray Like You Breathe: Exploring The Practice of Breath Prayer” and “I Promise It’s True,” a message of parents’ unconditional love for their children, which he co-wrote with his wife, Karen.

Houston and Karen, have been married 25 years and are raising four children. They love to travel and are always planning their next trip to explore God’s beautiful world.
