What are the eight mysteries revealed in the New Testament?

The New Testament uses the word “mystery” in reference to eight concepts or spiritual truths that are intimated but not fully revealed by the Old Testament. There are five mysteries associated with the Church, one of Israel in the Church Age, one of the Tribulation and one of the Kingdom.

These mysteries are named in the New Testament explicitly and explained as:

• The mystery of the Kingdom, specifically, the development and timing of the Kingdom program (Matthew 13).
• The mystery of the seven stars and seven golden lampstands (Revelation 1)
• The mystery of the body of Christ (Ephesians 3)
• The mystery of the indwelling of the Spirit (Colossians 1, Romans 8, Ephesians 1)
• The mystery of the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5)
• The mystery of the Rapture of believers (1Corinthians 15)
• The mystery of Israel’s hardening (Romans 11)
• The mystery of the seven climactic judgments to end the age (i.e., Tribulation) (Revelation 15-18)
