Michael joined the Wayside Staff in June of 2012 after seven years of teaching and coaching in the public school system. A native San Antonian, Michael attended Clark High School before accepting a scholarship to play baseball at St. Mary’s University where he was a part of the 2001 NCAA Division II National Championship Baseball Team. After two years at St. Mary’s, Michael left for the “promised land,” Texas A&M University, where he received his B.A. in History in 2005. While in high school, Michael had the fortune of attending a Young Life camp called Frontier Ranch, and it was there in the mountains of Colorado where Michael became a Christian. Michael still holds a very special place in his heart for camp ministries such as Young Life, Kanakuk, Pine Cove, FCA, etc. Michael is currently working towards his Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (M.A.C.L.) at Dallas Theological Seminary. Besides watching and playing sports (especially the Spurs and Aggies), Michael enjoys reading, traveling, going on mission trips, and going to U2 concerts. (He has seen them live 12 times!) Most of all, though, Michael loves spending time with the girl he grew up across the street from – his wife, Victoria. They met in elementary school on Bus 84 and were married in June of 2009 at Wayside. They have three sons: Elijah, Luke, and Caleb.
