Practical Discipleship: God's Word in Action

As a believer, have you noticed tension between your growth in the knowledge of the word of God versus living out the Truth of the word of God? This tension is ultimately worked out through the maturation of the believer in Christ through the process of sanctification. Join VBVMI as we take a deep dive into the rewarding growth process for believers from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity.

The 2024 VBVMI Bible Conference will help establish a framework for how Christians are to live out their faith with fear and trembling. Our main sessions and breakout sessions explore the principles of Christian discipleship considering the process of santification for the beliver in Jesus Christ.

How the Doctrine of Trinity shapes disciple making

The Trinity is rarely described using the word, "practical". That being said, this essential doctrine of the Christian faith has both incredible value and application when it comes to disciple making. In this session, we will explore how the doctrine at the center of the Christian faith is central to christian discipleship.

Learning about how the Lord Jesus Christ will evaluate the saints who have been saved by His grace.  If we know what is important to the Lord we will be better equipped to serve and glorify Him!

Faithfulness When Ministry Seems Fruitless

When ministry feels fruitless, it is impossible to remain faithful without God doing something miraculous in us.  As we look at 2 Corinthians 1:8-11, 7:5-6 we will see the most common but stealthy enemy we face against faithfulness is discouragement and even depression.  The miracle that God does to hold us faithful is that He personally joins us and keeps reminding us that He is there.  We will explore the depth of this miracle and its sustaining power from 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 and Matthew 28:18-20.

This workshop will focus upon studying the way in which Jesus Christ shaped and formed the lives of the Disciples, building leadership for your church and encouraging every believer to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Come explore how spiritual practices and disciplines of old  remain relevant for disciple making today. From solitude to study, we will look at practices that both shape the believer's mind and heart to be more like Jesus.

Family Discipleship

Discipleship starts in the home, but what does that look like? How do we prioritize and promote disciple making with those closest to us...the ones we live with? This session will focus on rhythms, practices, and approaches to making disciples where it matters most.

The Function of the Gospel in the Believer

Paul said in Colossians 1:24-28 that being a “steward” of the gospel compelled him to work toward presenting every man complete in Christ.  We will explore what it means to be a steward of the gospel and what that awareness does in relationship with others.

Praying for Those that We Love

When Paul was struggling, God used the prayers of the Corinthians to help him.  We will explore the wonder and necessity of praying for those we are discipling by examining the benefit but also by looking at what Paul prayed for those who discipled (Colossians 1:9-14 and Ephesians 1:18-21).

Run Your Race: Spiritual Rewards and Aiming for the Prize

Living for Christ well in a life that is constantly offering fanciful alternatives can become quite distracting, but what if we viewed this life as if we were in a race. When a track runner gets out of the block, their focus is not what’s to their left or the right, but simply on the goal ahead. In this breakout, we will understand the goal for our personal pursuit of Christ and how to bear much fruit in the opportunities He provides us to earn our rewards at the Bema Seat.

During this session we will look at four distinct parts of discipleship and answer the following four questions: 1. Discipleship Defined: “What is discipleship and how does the Bible define it?” 2. Discipleship Derailed: “Why is discipleship not working in the modern church?” 3. Discipleship Redefined: “What is the genuine way to make disciples?” 4. Discipleship Implemented: “What must we do to be able to make disciples?”

Bema Seat Judgement: What does it Mean to be Salted by Fire?

Everyone will be judged before God at the Bema Seat. For believers, that judgement is not a matter of eternal security, rather it deals with the evaluation of how the believer has run their race: How you lived, how you served, how you sacrificed. Once your works have been set ablaze, what will remain? In this breakout session, we will understand how the evaluation of our present life will set us up for the rewards the Lord has in store for us in the future.
