Would abortion still be considered wrong/bad if it’s medically necessary to save the life of the mother? What if the child was a consequence of sexuality immorality such as rape/incest? How should a Christian proceed in those scenarios?
The Bible teaches that a person living inside the womb of a mother is no less a person, no less alive and no less under God's protection than a person living outside the womb:
Psa. 22:9 Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
Psa. 22:10 Upon You I was cast from birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
Psa. 139:13 For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
Psa. 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
Luke 1:13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the name John.
Luke 1:14 “You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.
Luke 1:15 “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.
Luke 1:16 “And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.
Therefore, since the Lord values the life of a person inside the womb equally with the life of a person outside the womb, we must apply the same rules for life to both groups. The rules for taking the life of a person inside the womb should be no different than the rules for taking a life outside the womb.
So we should ask, does the Bible allow us to take the life of a person in order to save the life of another person? No. Does the Bible allow us to take a person's life because their existence is undesirable to another person? No. The only reasons given in Scripture for taking a person's life is in response to a capital crime (e.g., murder, etc.), and this rule must be applied equally for all people whether living inside a womb or outside a womb. Since a person inside a womb could never commit a capital crime, then there is never a biblical reason to take that life under any circumstances.
