How does the Abraham Accord signed in August 2020 relate to the coming Tribulation period?
In 2020, President Trump brokered a deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates called the Abraham Accord. This agreement was to recognize a common ancestor - Abraham.
We can find in Genesis the story of Abraham and his wife Sarah struggling to have a child. Taking matters into his own hands, Abraham has Hagar, an Egyptian slave, bear him a son whom he names Ishmael. Later, Sarah conceives and gives birth to a son also, whom he names Isaac.
We read in Chapter 21:
Genesis 21:9 Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking Isaac.
Genesis 21:10 Therefore she said to Abraham, “Drive out this slave woman and her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be an heir with my son Isaac!”
Genesis 21:11 The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son Ishmael.
Genesis 21:12 But God said to Abraham, “Do not be distressed because of the boy and your slave woman; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.
Genesis 21:13 And of the son of the slave woman I will make a nation also, because he is your descendant.”
So the people of the Middle East can trace their origins back to either son of Abraham: Isaac or Ishmael.
Biblically, there is nothing special about this latest agreement except the recognition of things that are. However we can know this is not the peace agreement that starts the Tribulation period, as there is no covenant allowing for sacrifices to be made on the temple grounds in Jerusalem etc.
The Abraham Accords itself is simply a good faith agreement to be the start of new trade agreements to come. (You can read the specifics here)
Perhaps it is more interesting to look at the increasing pattern of peace gaining momentum in the Middle East, and the public show of support for Israel highlighting how God is still clearly working in the interests of His people, leading to them taking centre stage in the end times.
